Baxter were formed in the winter of 2006 in South London . Ignoring the trends of London ’s indie scenesters, Baxter drew on their diverse influences of early 80s post punk and 90s Americana to create a dark and gritty sound instantly recognisable as their own.

2007 was spent gigging, writing, recording, and drinking. Baxter played and headlined some of London 's top venues including The Dublin Castle, Half Moon, Purple Turtle, Soho Revue, The Dirty South, The Marquee, The Clapham Grand, Punk, and The Astoria. Baxter quickly earned a reputation for erratic live shows and a nomination as “Best Indie Band” at THE INDY MUSIC AWARDS 2008.

2008’s tour of Scotland proved that while Baxter are still independent, they have built their fan base mainly on word of mouth and genuine fan excitement.

Baxter released their debut single on their own “Gutterlove Records” label in 2007. It was a limited release and word spread quickly. Due to the popularity of the release Baxter responded by setting to work immediately on a follow up.
Baxter are now completing work on their new EP ‘Call Off The Search’ with producer Nick Abbot (Foals, Datsuns, The Subways, Transgressive Records) which will feature live favourites: Gutterlove, Volcano, Knives and Break In Tradition.
